Police BRUTALITY
"If someone puts their hands on you, make sure they never put their hands on someone else." - Malcolm X
I am Andrew, a student in Canada and i stand for civilian rights and dislike police using excessive force.
Do police use excessive power over the general population?
Over the past few years their has been many moments where cops have used excessive power. They illustrate everywhere and are gaining a negative reputation amongst the population. Since 9/11, The police have been responsible for the deaths of 5000 civilians. This is not a small number and a recent study/servey has shown that they have been more responsible for deaths than terrorists in the US. An example of police officers using excessive force is with the Ferguson case. A college student walking home from school one night was shot dead for absolutely no reason. Police officers accused him of robbing a convenient store, but with no actual evidence to support those allegations. According to the Qoura, police officers do not have excessive power but rather lack training. The reason is, most citizens that desire to become a cop only require a high school degree and 3 months of police academy training. The term "excessive" will be flexed and questions in most jurisdictions. Over the past year, 12 000 complaints will heard by the police ethics commission, but only 50 officers will actually be tried in a court of law. According to ABC news, 13 police officers in NYC admitted to using excessive force at least once. According to some police officers, their are times where police officers are given the okay to use excessive force. For example, the Sandy Hook shooting in Connecticut, where the FBI and police shot Adam Lanza after killing 26 innocent kids.
In summary, police are using way too much force towards the public at large and it shouldn't be overlooked by civilians. If nothing is done about it now, it will cause a great amount of disputes/ riots in the future. I suggest that police officers that carry firearms get better training and think twice before using deadly weapons.
